A Ministry of Public Health notification of 8 February 2022, issued under the Narcotics Code, lists Psilocybe cubensis and other species of the genus that yield psilocybin or psilocin as Category 5 narcotics. Thailand's Food and Drug Administration says use carries up to 1 year in prison or a fine of up to 20,000 baht, and unlicensed production, import, sale or possession up to 5 years and 500,000 baht. The FDA also classes psilocybin itself as a Category 1 controlled psychotropic substance with no medical use.
