About ShrooMap
ShrooMap is an independent review and comparison platform dedicated to functional mushroom supplements, COA visibility, lab-testing checks, beta-glucan transparency, and mushroom retailer directories.
Our Mission
The functional mushroom market is booming, but not all products are created equal. Our mission is to cut through the marketing noise and provide honest, evidence-based reviews that help consumers make informed purchasing decisions.
What We Do
- โ Review and rate mushroom supplements across multiple categories using one published rubric
- โ Document third-party lab testing and Certificates of Analysis (COAs) when brands make them available
- โ Compare products side-by-side on ingredients, value, and transparency
- โ Maintain a directory of headshops and retailers that carry mushroom products
- โ Publish educational guides about functional mushroom species
Our Standards
Every product we review goes through our standardized rating methodology. We evaluate products on value, ingredient quality, taste, transparency, and customer support. We document lab testing and COA evidence whenever possible and clearly disclose when we cannot verify it.
Our Founder
ShrooMap was founded by Justin Hartfield, a pioneer in the cannabis and functional wellness space. As the co-founder of Weedmaps, Justin brings over a decade of experience building trusted consumer directories in regulated markets.
After witnessing the explosive growth of the functional mushroom industry, Justin recognized the same challenges he saw in early cannabis: a flood of products with varying quality and limited consumer transparency. ShrooMap was born from the mission to apply the same rigorous, data-driven approach to functional mushrooms.
Justin's team evaluates every product using a standardized methodology that covers ingredient quality, lab-testing transparency, value per serving, taste, and customer support. Products are never rated based on affiliate relationships.
How We Test & Review
Every product on ShrooMap goes through a multi-step review process:
- 1.Ingredient Audit โ We verify mushroom species, extraction methods, and dosages against clinical research.
- 2.Lab Testing Verification โ We check for third-party Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and flag products that lack them.
- 3.Value Analysis โ Price per serving is calculated and compared across the category.
- 4.Taste & Experience โ When possible, products are sampled and evaluated for flavor and texture.
- 5.Customer Support โ We assess the brand's responsiveness, return policy, and customer service quality.
Independence & Transparency
ShrooMap is reader-supported. We may earn commissions through affiliate links, which helps fund our reviews at no extra cost to you. Our editorial ratings are never influenced by affiliate relationships. Read our full affiliate disclosure for details.
