What about the storefronts you may have heard of?

Boulder has no tolerated retail psilocybin storefronts, and Colorado gives them no room to exist: the Natural Medicine Division states that sales are prohibited in both the regulatory framework and the personal-use space, and that dispensing or distributing natural medicine as part of a business promotion or commercial activity remains a criminal offence under section 18-18-434(5)(c), C.R.S. The division publicly lists five cease-and-desist letters it has sent to Colorado businesses engaged in the commercial sale of psilocybin mushrooms, all issued between November 2023 and September 2024 and none of them to a Boulder business. In January 2026 it relayed a Denver Department of Public Health & Environment consumer alert about PolkaDot-branded products: chocolate bars pulled from three Denver retailers were lab-tested and found to contain substances not allowed in food, including psilocybin, psilocin, adenosine, tryptamine and 4-HO-MET. Because PolkaDot branding is sold openly online, unrelated makers package under the same name, so no bar's contents or dose can be assumed — the same caution applies to any unregulated gummy or chocolate found in a smoke shop, convenience store or gas station.
